Serial Comm port choice not available

I have loaded Internet Trilogic version 5.0 on two PCs one with Windows ME O/S and the other with Windows 98SE. I have verified the readme txt file requarding Java JRE files.
The option to serially connect to the T100MD-1616+ does not come up, the only connection choice is via IP address/ server.
